WDS Strategic Plan

The Women’s Dermatologic Society has always been guided by a strong mission, and that mission remains unchanged.
What has evolved is how WDS organizes its work so that time, energy, and resources can be used more intentionally to support members and communities. This focus is the foundation of WDS for the Future.

WDS already does many valuable things. The opportunity was not to change what the organization does, but to improve how it does it. By simplifying the organizational structure, WDS has created a more sustainable foundation that better aligns programs, committees, and leadership pathways with its mission.

The Strategic Framework
The strategic framework is intentionally simple. It defines what matters most to WDS and provides a shared lens for evaluating programs, services, and new ideas so the organization can invest in what delivers the greatest impact.
At its core are three strategic pillars:
     • Networking
     • Personal and Professional Development, with mentorship at the center
     • Service
These pillars help guide decisions across the organization and create greater consistency, clarity, and purpose.

How Programs Are Evaluated
Each program, whether new or existing, is evaluated through this framework to ensure it:
     • Serves WDS members meaningfully
     • Uses resources responsibly
     • Integrates with other WDS efforts
     • Advances the mission in a sustainable way
This approach helps WDS focus its energy on the programs that matter most while creating a more cohesive member experience.

Implementation and Next Steps
The WDS Board of Directors has approved this framework for implementation beginning in 2026. During the year, WDS will focus on evaluating current programs and launching a clearer membership value strategy. From there, the organization will continue strengthening flagship programs and thoughtfully expanding new offerings, always in alignment with the framework.

WDS for the Future is not a departure from who WDS is. It is a commitment to clarity, impact, and long-term strength so the organization can continue supporting women in dermatology through mentorship, leadership, development, and service for years to come.
