WDS Virtual Academic Talk: April Session Your Academic Niche: What You Can Build, Negotiate, and Support. Building an academic niche is more than expertise; it’s aligning your interests with institutional priorities, clearly articulating your value, and creating a sustainable professional identity. This Women’s Dermatologic Society Virtual Academic Talk will help faculty and academic leaders define a niche that reflects their strengths and positions them for long-term impact. Participants will gain practical strategies for self-advocacy, including how to negotiate for protected time, funding, mentorship, and infrastructure. The session will also cover how senior faculty can support junior colleagues by recognizing emerging interests and creating the conditions for specialized roles to thrive. Whether you are early in your career or mentoring others, this session will offer actionable insights to help you build, sustain, and support meaningful academic niches.
