Lynchburg, VA dermatologist Janet G. Hickman, MD honored with Rose Hirschler Award from Women’s Dermatologic Society

San Francisco, CA (February 25, 2008) -- The Women’s Dermatologic Society (WDS) proudly announces that Janet G. Hickman, MD, was honored with the prestigious Rose Hirschler award during its annual luncheon at the American Academy of Dermatology meeting held recently in San Antonio, Texas.

Named in honor of the first woman dermatologist in the United States, the Rose Hirschler Award has been given each year since 1988 to outstanding physicians who have made a significant contribution to medicine and to the dermatologic specialty and whose achievement has served to enhance the role of women in dermatology.

Dr. Hickman is a private practice dermatologist with Dermatology Consultants in Lynchburg, Virginia. She is also a consultant and clinical investigator at The Education and Research Foundation, Inc. Dr. Hickman’s specialties include general medical dermatology, clinical trials, especially seborrheic dermatitis, acne, and psoriasis. Her dedication to establishing the Women’s Dermatologic Society Foundation (WDSF) in 2004 has led to grant funding for community service outreach projects and the creation of an endowment to ensure the future of WDS grant programs such as academic research, mentoring and service projects.
