Marie-France Demierre, MD receives President's Award from Suzanne Connolly, MD

2008-2009 WDS President Suzanne Connolly, MD chose Marie-France Demierre, MD as the 2009 recipient of the President's Award.

The President's Award is given at the discretion of the President of the WDS to an individual or individuals of her choosing.

Past recipients of this award have included Jean Bolognia, MD Lenore Kakita, MD, Susan Weinkle, MD, and Sandra Read, MD. The awardee is an individual or individuals who supported the President in an extraordinary way during her term to help make the Society a better organization.

Dr. Connolly selected Marie-France Demierre because she was "immensely helpful" to her throughout her presidency.

In Dr. Connolly's words, "Marie-France Demierre so eloquently and charismatically chaired the Member Renewal Retreat in Charleston, South Carolina; she actively participated in the WDS Service activities and helped WDS receive IRB approval to publish the outcomes of these service activities on changing behavior; and when I called her to ask her if she would agree to chair this year's WDS - AAD Forum on Ethnic Skin, she again said “yes!” despite her very busy schedule as a mother, wife, clinician, researcher, and grant writer. Among the many hats she wears every day is her WDS hat--and I am so glad she does, because she helped me immensely as President this year, and that is why I have selected her to receive the WDS President’s Award!"
