What foresight! Although this statement was made in the last century by the successful American industrialist Henry Ford, these words sum up the history of the Women’s Dermatologic Society so very well! Through the diligent work of our 27 committees, many ideas have bloomed into successful projects. Our logo has expanded to reflect our many functions: “Women’s Dermatologic Society: Physicians Mentors Leaders”

Two years ago I received a WDS Career Development Award to study the topic of “Women and Mentoring” with Mary Maloney, MD. Mary kindly let me stay at her home in Massachusetts for two weeks and in the evenings we would sit and mull over the topic.
