WDS Academic Dermatologist Interest Group

The WDS has formed the WDS Academic Dermatologist Interest Group

The mission is to support and foster the role of women dermatologists in the academic field by providing a network for interaction, collaboration, and the establishment of a group that can specifically address their professional needs.

The interest group functions under the direction of the Academic Dermatologist Committee, co-chaired by Kathy Schwarzenberger, MD and Kelly Cordoro, MD. Click here for a complete list of the committee.

The Purpose of the Interest Group is:
  • To identify and consolidate national efforts focusing on recruitment of women dermatologists into the academic field
  • To identify and address common needs and specific concerns among women in academic dermatology
  • To create programs that will provide junior and mid-career women in the academic field with the necessary tools to achieve career-long mastery of leadership, managerial and negotiation skills
  • To provide scientific support to the "Academic Dermatologist Research Grant Program" by establishing a review committee whose members have expertise in a variety of areas within dermatology
  • To build and sustain a collaborative network by providing an interactive medium for communication among individuals with common academic interests
WDS members who express an interest in being part of this network may participate in breakfasts, retreats, e-mail communications, and other activities that this group elects to pursue.
