BIG Event: Practice Enhancement Reception

The WDS Business Interest Group (BIG) sponsored the annual Practice Enhancement Event at Dr. Susana Leal Khouri’s office in Key Biscayne, Florida. Susana and her husband, Roger, a plastic surgeon, graciously welcomed WDS members to their new medical facility. It was a great event for those anticipating opening a dermatology practice and to those already in private practice. Susana and Roger shared their experience, tips, trial and tribulations of purchasing a building and redesigning it for the needs of a dermatologist, dermatopathologist and plastic surgeon.

The Business Interest Group Task Force members include Co-chairs Cheryl Burgess, MD and Carrie Jacobs, MD; Tami Cassis, MD; Doris Day, MD; Diane Berson, MD; Jonith Breadon, MD; Valerie Callender, MD and Rutledge Forney, MD.

BIG is generously supported by Dermpath Diagnostics. This interest group is one of the many value-added benefits of being a WDS member. Since the inception of its web presence in August 2009, the BIG page on the WDS website has provided members with BIG upcoming events on business-related topics, ListServe, and a suggestion box for inquires and comments for those starting a new practice, expanding an existing practice or managing an existing practice.

Recently, Allergan Access, a dermatologic consulting group of BSM, has granted complimentary usage to our members, which is otherwise restricted for select cosmetic practices. Depending on your level of usage, the link offers an Administrator’s Toolkit, marketing strategies, financial benchmarking and issues dealing with human resources.
