Greetings Dermatology Residents and Fellows:
My name is Elizabeth (Libby) Sanders Jacobson. I am currently a 3rd year dermatology resident at the University of Alabama and the current Resident Representative for the Women's Dermatologic Society.
I want to take this opportunity to encourage you to visit our website at www.womensderm.org for information about the many opportunities offered to residents and fellows. For example, the WDS Annual Luncheon meeting in San Francisco March 23, 2003 is a great opportunity for Residents and Fellows to meet dermatologists with a variety of experiences in the field. At the first luncheon I attended, I had the opportunity to speak with Gloria Graham, MD, who was being honored at the luncheon. She was an amazing person with whom to speak. She was so down to earth, giving excellent recommendations for my situation and not at all stand-offish. That luncheon gave me the idea that the WDS is a great organization and one where I could join and get involved. In San Francisco, there will be many opportunities to network and to meet others whether you are a member or not. Look for the WDS Networking Reception, Fireside Chats, and the Practice Enhancement Reception at Dr. Seth Matarasso's office. One of the strengths of WDS is the warm interactions between dermatologists of all fields of endeavors from around the United States and the world.
This is a wonderful organization that welcomes residents and fellows to join at no cost. There is an online application available on the website. Click on Member Advantages and choose the Application to Join option. The application requires two sponsors under ITEM 4. Please use Dr. Lenore Kakita (our current President) and Elizabeth Sanders (me!) for those sponsors.
Thank you for taking the time to learn about the Women's Dermatologic Society. If you have any questions, please eMail me at eisanders@yahoo.com.
Have a Wonderful Year!
Elizabeth (Libby) Sanders Jacobson, MD
